In the mid 00’s, the Cocktail Renaissance was just getting rolling. All over the world, bartenders were dusting off century-old cocktail books and trying to recreate them or improve upon them. There was just one major problem. Many of these spirits references in these old books just weren’t made anymore. Old Tom was a common category of gin at the turn of the 20th century. Slightly sweetened either with some sort of sugar or with intense botanicals these gins differed dramatically from the dry gins.

Our story started in one of England’s last wild sanctuaries in the remote moors of Northumberland, the whipping winds amongst the age of juniper bushes at Hepple, and our pursuit of a gin to make the perfect dry martini. The only way to capture the wild heart of this juniper was to completely rethink how the gin was made. Thus our Triple Technique was born.

The combination of the art of distillation, with the patience of aging, you get a gin aged with an aromatic complexity that combines two different nuances: that of the distillate aromatic and that of the product aged.

Luxardo London Dry Gin is the result of an accurate selection of nine botanicals such as juniper, coriander, iris, angelica, licorice, cinchona, cinnamon, cardamom and bitter oranges left in alcoholic infusion for twenty-four hours in our traditional copper pot stills before distillation. After nineteen days of refinement, the product is filtered, diluted and ready to be bottled. The actual recipe of the Luxardo London Dry Gin goes back to the famous “Ginepro di Dalmazia”, produced by the Luxardo family since the beginning of the 1900’s. The Luxardo family has been producing a juniper based distillate, ancestor of the more modern gin spirit, since 1833, when it first appeared on a price list of the company.
